NAUTIC PARTNERS ACQUIRES LEADING MANUFACTURER OF BRAKES AND BRAKING SYSTEMSInvestment is Firm’s 25 th Transaction in the Manufacturing SectorProvidence, RI — June 20, 2005Nautic Partners, LLC, a private equity firm with more than $1.8 billion of capital under management, today announced that it has partnered with senior management to acquire HB Performance Systems, Inc., a leader in the non-automotive brake industry. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. HB Performance Systems manufactures custom braking systems for original equipment manufacturers of motorcycles, bicycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and other non-automotive applications. With operations in Mequon, Wisconsin and Taiwan, HB serves customers such as Arctic Cat, Caterpillar, Decathlon, Giant, John Deere, Harley-Davidson, Kona, Polaris, Trek Bikes, and Textron. These transactions, which have taken the form of leveraged buyouts, management buyouts, and leveraged recapitalizations, include such companies as Savage Sports Corp., a manufacturer of sporting rifles and firing range systems, NEPTCO Holdings, a maker of wire, cable, and electronic packaging component materials, IPS Group, a leader in the production of plastic pipe adhesives and plumbing hardware, and Pace Fitness, a manufacturer of motorized consumer treadmills.
