Operating Advisors


  • Rick Crosier - Operating Director
    Rick Crosier has been associated with Nautic since 1991. Mr. Crosier began his relationship with Nautic as a consultant providing Nautic with market diligence advisory services on selected new investments as well as strategic advice on portfolio companies. The relationship began when Mr. Crosier was a Managing Director at The Parthenon Group and continued after he founded and served as CEO of Investor Group Services, LLC (“IGS”). After Ernst & Young’s acquisition of IGS, Mr. Crosier joined Nautic in 2004 as a Managing Director and built the firm’s Business Diligence and Strategy Group. Mr. Crosier led the market diligence on numerous successful Nautic investments including Chem-Dry, Corporate Lodging Company, American Imaging Management, Axia Health Management, ConvergeOne, IPS Group, and Contec. He currently assists Nautic by serving on the boards of Design/Craft Fabric Holdings, Inc., Big Train Holdings, LLC, and FFG Holdings, Inc. Mr. Crosier also works directly with Nautic portfolio companies by applying his experience from either successfully founding or leading control investments in several companies including IGS, Monument Information Resources, TEC Direct, and SearchSoft Solutions. Mr. Crosier transitioned to Operating Director in 2010. Mr. Crosier received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Duke University and his Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
  • Ron Coburn - Operating Advisor
    Ron Coburn has been associated with Nautic since early 1995.  Mr. Coburn is the Chairman and CEO of Savage Sports Corporation, a former portfolio company of Nautic Partners that was successfully sold in 2004. He currently serves on the boards of three Nautic portfolio companies: Pace Fitness, Medegen Holdings, and Curtis Industries Holdings, and assists Nautic in due diligence on new manufacturing-related investment opportunities. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Canterbury School of Technology in England, as well as a Business Degree from Croydon School of Business in London. Mr. Coburn is also a board member for numerous company, association, and civic boards.
  • David Harrington - Operating Advisor
    Mr. Harrington brings over 35 years of increasingly responsible and successful experience in all key areas of healthcare delivery management. His particular interest lies in identifying and implementing key IS/IT initiatives that will differentiate the enterprise and offer expanded efficiencies and savings to customers. Mr. Harrington is rare among senior healthcare managers, having held executive positions with health plans (AETNA and United Healthcare), hospitals (Columbia/HCA), and physician-owned enterprises (Physician Quality Care). As CEO of American Imaging Management (AIM) from 2001-2008, Mr. Harrington turned around this radiology management business from minimal EBITDA and a negative net worth of $19M, grew the EBITDA to over $30M, and increased the net worth in excess of $350M. In August 2007, AIM was sold to WellPoint for $307M. In 2009, Mr. Harrington established DASH Business Group as a business advisory and development firm to early stage healthcare companies. Mr. Harrington earned his graduate degree from Columbia University and his undergraduate degree from Boston College.
  • Peter Nelson - Operating Advisor
    Peter Nelson has been associated with Nautic since 2003, serving as CFO of CLC Group until Nautic’s successful exit in early 2009. Currently, he is a consultant to portfolio company Canada Cartage in the areas of finance, organizational development, and business strategy. Mr. Nelson brings to Nautic more than 25 years of experience in operating management of businesses in the manufacturing, technology, and business service sectors. In addition, he has a wide range of transactional experience including financing and M&A transactions totaling $2.5 billion. Mr. Nelson’s prior experience includes time with IBM, Booz, Allen & Hamilton, and Horsehead Industries. He also served as a Director and Chairman of the Board of Russell Stanley Holdings during its successful reorganization and ultimate sale. Mr. Nelson graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering and has an MBA from Columbia University.
  • H. Jay Sarles - Operating Advisor
    H. Jay Sarles has had an ongoing relationship with Nautic since its inception as Fleet Equity Partners in 1986, most recently as an operating advisor to Nautic since 2004.  He retired in March of 2005 as Vice Chairman of Bank of America. Prior to that, he was Vice Chairman and Chief Administrative Officer of FleetBoston Financial which was acquired by Bank of America in April of 2004. During his 37 years with Fleet, Mr. Sarles was a driving force behind Fleet’s growth from a Rhode Island-based bank with $971 million in assets, to a financial services company with bank assets of $190 billion and assets under management of $150 billion. Mr. Sarles oversaw virtually all of Fleet’s acquisitions and mergers during his tenure, as well as all of Fleet’s businesses at one time or another, including the company’s wholesale banking businesses, commercial finance, real estate finance, capital markets, global services, industry banking, middle market and large corporate lending, small business services, investment banking, and other financial services subsidiaries. Mr. Sarles received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Amherst College in Massachusetts. He also serves on numerous other company and educational boards.
  • Bill Troyk - Operating Advisor
    Bill Troyk has had an ongoing relationship with Nautic since 1997.  Mr. Troyk was the Founder and CEO of Roadrunner Freight Systems, a Nautic portfolio company that was successfully exited in 2003. Mr. Troyk serves on the board of Corporate Lodging Consultants, a Nautic portfolio company, and assists Nautic in evaluating new business service-related investment opportunities, particularly in the areas of transportation and logistics.  Mr. Troyk is presently the Chairman and shareholder of Badger Trucking.  He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Mr. Troyk has also served on numerous company and civic boards.
